Honest comment only. This game is pretty mid at best. That's not to say that it is bad in anyway actually there is nothing "wrong" with it at all. Maybe the "problem" (problem is in quotes because this game doesn't really have a problem) it just kinda of feels visual novelie... like it starts with this black screen with some interesting conversation happening, to then just a guys body on your screen with a hole in it that you interact with. After that point you lost me until the start of the convo with the observer but even that got a bit long winded at the end.
All that to say this is a solid game just not very interesting or innovative. Maybe add more interactions like the body at the beginning. A cool atmosphere was setup with that opening then it kind of fell fast. ** (The teddy bear and the green bottle key doesn't count because you interact with them in your inventory).
Next why did I even leave a comment since I didn't really like it? I actually kind of did like it, but I go out of my way to play indie games and give honest reviews to hopefully influence good game creation moving forward.
Thank you for the opportunity to play your game, and good job to you for making it. If I could ask if you would check out my video if not that's fine but closed mouths don't get fed so I figure I would atleast ask.
This was an amazing point and click horror ride. The story was interesting, nice little puzzle solving and the creatures were terrifying. Great job all around.
Really cool game , the graphics are really nice. I had an error happen where it kept crashing in the tunnel , but I found a fix for it.. click at the top of the screen close to the menu instead of at the bottom when moving through tunnel , and it does not crash 😁👌
I don't usually write reviews, but this game was amazing. The vibes were immaculate and the sprite work was mesmerizing. Would want to be trapped here again.
Thank you! Glad you liked it. I am working on Carnival next (which will be a longer, full release on Steam) but will be doing more short horrors on itch.io in the future.
I really enjoyed this one! It gives off a really creepy and surreal vibe mixed with cosmic horror. I did get stuck on the jewel puzzle and had to watch a video, but that's a skill issue on my end. Game starts around 48:40
Just some initial impressions. Small things that I think would help take this from amazing to perfect. One thing I thought was off was that all the dialogue of me clicking and the game responding was in past tense. I think it would make more sense if it was in current tense.
On the picture frame where you need to undo the latches, maybe let the player unlock them in any order?
And then I got stuck in the flesh tunnel. Couldn't tear down the web or use the bottle with the key I found (no way to use items) and I couldn't back out, I'd stop moving after a point.
This game was beyond good I have no words for how well it was made it was really well done and made, it was scary in its own way and that's what I loved about it good job and cant wait to see what else you create!
Very fascinating and disturbing little experience though I have zero clue what was happening! I love how pixel art plus horror always makes for a creepy atmosphere and the weirdness of this game just adds on to that, making it creepy and unsettling without the need for jumpscares. Excellent job, will definitely be checking out more of your games!
Super cool little horror game! I really enjoyed the pixel art, visuals of the entities, and primordial/cosmic horror vibes. I’ll definitely be sure to check out your other stuff!
Really awesome work. Puzzles and gameplay make sense, solid scares without becoming overbearing, a very weird but enticing story. Overall a great point and click horror experience.
I found that if I did not have a previous save and attempted to load one instead of starting a new one (on accident lol) it would send me to a title screen with the goopy hospital bed continuously dripping and no way to get out of it for what could be a long amount of time? the music and fx made me think it was intentional and for the scares for a bit.
Other than that, this game is really fun, however, I am stuck in the flesh tunnel.
I would be able to get to the end and see the webbing and have the text appear that I won't use my bare hands and that I would need to think of something else. I could see something spiderlike behind me in the tunnel, but I couldn't think of anything to do other than go back the game won't let me move backward more than a slight bit, and I can't go forward. My thought is that there Is probably an item that is needed to cut through the webbing, but I cannot exit the tunnel. I restarted the game from the beginning to see if this was a one-time thing, but the same thing happened. The probability is that I am missing something that I was supposed to pick up before going inside the flesh hole, yet I tried to interact with other objects before entering the tunnel but all I got was the red gem from the photograph and the key in the jar. I also have no idea if there is an option, to use these items, like an inventory system or such?
(edit)
This was a lot of information and questions, and I also wanted to say that the art and the sounds are beautiful, it just has some gameplay issues, and I'm sure you are doing your best with it.
(edit x2 ) ok I just had no idea where the inventory was but Its all good now, the tunnel is NOT broken
Usually I would have some suggestions that can maybe help the dev(s) cuz I heard that it can help them a lot from a players perspective lol but so far it dint disappoint and I dint find any parts that are in need of improving. Very impressive dev(s)! Keep it up!
It may not be compatible, I haven't specifically looked to make it work through the app, but it's a very small game and plays through the .exe without need for install.
Great game with great visual and sound design! Although i was stuck on the jewels ending, it's the only thing I thought of as confusing (and that is a complement). Otherwise I'd say it was very coherent and the atmosphere was really spooky. Loved it, keep up the great work, you are definetely talanted! <3
This was an awesome game my dude! I always like old school point and click, this gave me darkseed vibes. Very fun little story, fun puzzles to figure out and great music and sound effects! It all came together to make a fun experience! I recommend completely, here is my gameplay video! Sub and help my channel grow everyone!
It has great potential, but it is too strange to move the player around without clicking on the objects. Maybe using the default A and D keys for moving would make it better? It is also pretty confusing, but has cool pixel art. ;)
not too hard puzzle-wise (there were no puzzles that would stop the gameplay for too long)
Cons:
story (it wasn't bad, don't get me wrong. Maybe it's more to do with the length of the game, but I feel the game would be much better if the story had the time and place to grow. I did not feel for the character, we were thrown right into action, but given the length of the game... it is what it is I guess)
Overall:
This is a short horror experience, much better than a lot of those here on the website in a sense that it is more polished, more mature. The hole in the wall reminded me of "Silent Hill 4", the skelly-archivist reminded me of "Planescape Torment". I have a feeling that maybe... (maybe?) you played "If On A Winter Night Four Travellers", I find it a bit similiar. Not to take away from the originality of your game of course.
I follow your work because your art is very good and also I enjoy horror stories. Hope to play more from you soon :)
Thank you for the kind words! Yes the story is a short piece of a larger story I want to tell over several games. I have played If on a Winter's Night, Four Travellers and it's awesome (and the dev is a lovely person), I hadn't intended this to draw from that but happy for the comparison :)
Great job on the game; I loved the art style, the design of the little creature and the Witness is beautiful. I got really lucky with the Marionette on my first playthrough, I didn't even realise until I went for the second ending that there was a specific order to add the bottles.
Teeth of Glass was a really nice, short experience; I had a lot of fun with my playthrough
The lore behind this game is freaky. I was amazed by the visuals and fully immersed in the gameplay. The sound design is fantastic, as well as the gameplay and overall look of the game. Sadly, some of the bugs broke the immersion, especially the ending part. I did see how the game goes beyond the main "key trouble" and I am very looking forward to seeing an update.
Best of luck with the future developments. Cheers!
Thank you for playing! I have fixed the issue with the key and reuploaded a new version of the game (along with the other issue found by Ravencrow). It's just me developing the game, I will keep tweaking it :) - Jake
Amazing job Jake! I will be playing more of this for sure. I am also a game dev and I truly understand the complexities and constant worries of making something new, so no worries at all, just a heads up. Rarely do I play games and showcase them, which have bugs like this, but yours was an exception, because it is a phenomenal story and I want others to play it as well when it gets recommended. Best of luck, once again!
Hey started to record a playthough of this, but there appears to be a bug. When I click the photograph, I'm stuck in it. When I click the gem, it turns the photo around.. but I can't get out. There's no exit button. Might want to figure that out, or tell me if I'm down something wrong. Thanks!

Pretty creepy!
Thank you!
Pretty interesting short game,i liked "Knowledge" ending,to me personally, pixel games always have some more creepy atmosphere,5\5
Thanks, me too, I love pixel art

There is another item to use on the web from your inventory :)
Much appreciated!

jeez gave me a big jump on bro lol
A little scary boi

Thank you for the title screen info, I will have a look and sort :)
I was crawling into the flesh hole (it makes sense in context) when this happened...
I think I was clicking too much? I dunno.
I think that is from clicking a lot of times and the fact that there is something tied to clicking, but I will double check.
Yeah! I clicked multiple times in that sequence, and I think it caused the crash!
Usually I would have some suggestions that can maybe help the dev(s) cuz I heard that it can help them a lot from a players perspective lol but so far it dint disappoint and I dint find any parts that are in need of improving. Very impressive dev(s)! Keep it up!
Thank you! Appreciate it :D
hey gonna download and play this for sure, but FYI for some reason it doesn't install in the itch app, "no compatible downloads were found"
It may not be compatible, I haven't specifically looked to make it work through the app, but it's a very small game and plays through the .exe without need for install.
I think I had a dream like this before
I hope you chose wisely in your dream!
Haha Thank you I indeed did

Very kind :) Thank you
Great job on the visuals! The sounds are pretty nice as well!
Cool game. I'm surprised it's not more popular
Glad you liked it :)
Nice game! Looking forward to your next project...
Thank you! Yes, working hard on my other two games at the moment, hopefully I will have a release date for Carnival soon
Thank you for playing! Much appreciated :D

Cool! :)
Hello, it would be nice to make it possible that the game can be installed with the itch.io launcher. The launcher doesn't find any install file.
Looking forward to playing this game as I liked Abscission very much!
Nice horror atmosphere and puzzles, also I really like how you use full-screen pieces!
Thank you :) Much appreciated.

Thank you, and thank you again for giving it a play :)
Thanks for the tip. Ran into some issues figuring out the second ending, but hope you enjoy my video :)
Thank you! Yes the photo is supposed to be a one off... I will fix now!

Hi, try working the latches on the back of the photo, one by one. If that doesn't work, let me know! :)
